This feast is sometimes also called Enlightenment (Prosviščénije), which relates to baptism, since baptism (or the initiation sacraments) in the Byzantine tradition is often referred to as enlightenment.

On the feast of the Nativity of the Lord, we celebrate the revelation of God in the flesh (in humanity), while on the Feast of Theophany, we celebrate the revelation of God as the Holy Trinity. This is why Theophany is considered greater than the Nativity. It is not only called the Revelation of the Lord but also Theophany, because we celebrate the revelation of the entire Trinity, as expressed in the liturgical texts:

At Your baptism in the Jordan, O Lord, the worshipful Trinity was revealed: the voice of the Father bore witness to You, calling You His beloved Son, and the Holy Spirit, in the form of a dove, confirmed the truth of these words... (Troparion of the Feast)
